RECENT THEORETICAL RESEARCH TOPICS FOR MSc and PhD UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF
PROF. DR. SHAHIDAN RADIMAN FOR 2015-17 INTAKE

1. Quantum Hydrodynamic Equations
(i) Wigner-Poisson systems and quantum Vlasov equations for solving problems in plasma physics related to fusion and quark-gluon plasma
(ii) Quantum hydrodynamics application in nanostructures and devices

2. Bohmian Mechanics
Fundamental problems in quantum cosmology and quantum ontology solved using de Broglie-Bohm interpretations taking into account quantum decoherence with emphasis on early universe. ( already 1 MSc student pursuing)

3. Higher dimensional gravity theory
Lovelock generalization of General Relativity , blackholes and AdS/CFT correspondence and Randall-Sundrum models with possible observations at current LHC energies. ( already 1 Phd student pursuing)

4. Quantum biology of Molecular Motor
Relating quantum Master equations with molecular motor mechanism together with thermodynamics (of small systems) , soliton phenomena and stochastic (Markovian) processes. ( already 1 MSc student pursuing)

5. Nuclear structure ( for both stable and unstable systems)
Effect of decoherence to fusion and alpha decay as well as in halo nuclei. N-body problems in nuclei near the drip-lines. Dynamic of nuclei deformation due to fission and fusion using quantum hydrodynamics. (already 1 Phd student pursuing)

6. Quantum Cosmology Beyond the Standard Model
Application of supersymmetry and beyond the standard models to model dark matter , baryon-asymmetry etc

7. Econophysics
Application of known physics phenomena as in phase transitions, quantum evolutions , fractional and fractal physics to problems in mathematical finance and quantitative economics.

EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH TOPICS FOR 2015-2017
UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF PROF. DR. SHAHIDAN RADIMAN

1. Graphene base superstructures
Graphene-metal oxides and graphene-conducting polymer composites and superstructures (layered structures) for supercapacitor and solar-cell applications ( 2 Phd students and 2 MSc students already pursuing)

2. Novel synthesis route of metal-oxides nanocomposites for multifunctional applications
Using ultrasonic and ionic-liquid based systems we prepare metal-oxide nanocomposites of various morphologies for multifunctional applications ( 1 Phd student already pursuing)

3. Novel biocompatible drug delivery systems
Using nanovesicular systems with intended drug delivery pass the blood-brain barrier as well as novel release system ( 1 Phd student already pursuing)

4. Novel surfactant-polymer association structures for drug delivery Organo-Gel based and temperature-reversible association structures

5. Carbon-dot based colloidal superstructures

6. Self-assembled nanorods for novel quantum device
Self assembly of nanorods for entangled photons and entangled exciton applications as well as multiexciton generations

7. Nanoparticle-doped solid state radiation detectors
Novel synthesis route and doping methods and gap engineering and controlled of colour centres. (2 Phd students already pursuing)

8. Nanolubrication using nanoparticles
Ionic liquid and PAO based nanoparticle mixtures are being used to test lubrication behavior for medium-temperature engines applications ( 1 MSc student already pursuing)

9. Nanofluid for industrial applications
1 undergraduate final year project on simulated bubble formation from nanofluids on heated surface. Require MSc student to pursue some interesting findings.

10. Thin films based on nanoparticles
Novel thin film behavior from nanoparticles electrodeposited or spin-coating (1 Phd student already pursuing)

11. Novel electrodeposited layered alloys
Novel magnetism and conduction behavior of multilayered nanoscaled metallic alloys ( 1 MSc student already submitted the thesis)

12. Nanophase ceramics materials for high temperature and high-irradiation applications
